Getting a quarter meant you could eat candy all day. Some of my favorites were the chocolate "ICE CUBE" squares that melted in your mouth as you closed your mouth. Smooth chocolate~ It has a reference of a polar bear on it. I guess because it is such a cool chocolate to eat. : ) There was also the wonderful licorice rolls. The ones that came in several individual rolls of tape looking packages. That was great! I was buying it here in the states and then they stopped importing it. It comes from Denmark. However, I did see something recently about how I can order some again. Yeah me~! The memories start flooding back of my sisters and I watching out for traffic, crossing the street to get to the store, looking around inside at all of the candy as if it was pure gold, huddling outside the store after our purchase to divide the candy between us, and smiling all the way home with my candy. While chewing a mouthful for sure!
I am not encouraging you to run and get a big sack of candy to eat. I am just encouraging you to find some of the candy you liked in the past. While researching I came across several online stores that you can order from. There are many and I encourage you to find what you like best. It can just be fun to be a kid again for that moment.
Be smart about your candy intake. Enjoy life in all kinds of ways. The tiny things amount to a much larger moment than one big one. Have a tiny bit of nostalgia for yourself. It can be kinda fun. Now I am off to get some myself. The thin string red licorice is one of my top favorites. Oh, remember the Marathon Bar? The one that was a ruler size long? It was the best caramel and chocolate combo ever! Cadbury has that and it is called "Curly Wurly." Love it!
If you do not eat candy find something from your past that was good as a child and jump in!
